In November 1907 a small school of eight pupils and one teacher was opened in the Bickley Valley. It took the name of the district for those times and was known as the Heidelberg School. After a few years operation at the bottom of the valley, the operation was transferred to the Bickley Seventh-day Adventist Church site in Heidelberg Road.
The school operated for approximately three decades adjacent to the church until 1935 when it was transferred to its present site at 18 First Avenue, Bickley. For many of those early years the school ran as a secondary school as well as a primary institution with studies extending to year ten. It is now reported to be one of the oldest continually operating schools run by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Australia.
Its beautiful rural setting with modern buildings and facilities makes it an ideal location for a primary school. All current buildings have been erected in the last thirty years, with the most recent addition being a library added in early 1992, a new portable classroom and verandah complex added in 1996, and a gazebo built in 1999. In October, 2000 the school changed its name to ‘Carmel Adventist College Primary’.
With God's leading the school will continue to provide a Christian education for its students.
